Are you going to decorate your house for Christmas? Do you realise that you can also put a festive touch to your social media accounts? We would like to tell you about the top five places for Instagram shots in winter on the coast at Palanga and Šventoji. If you are an active user of social media, we believe this article will provide you with some great ideas: you can visit and capture the atmosphere of places on the coast that look incredibly wintry and festive. And if you are a little more reserved and don’t like to share those moments in your life with others, that’s no problem: just visit these wintry corners and preserve their beauty in your memory.

The Christmas trees at Palanga and Šventoji

What kind of pictures show that the holiday season is coming? Christmas trees, of course! So if you visit the Lithuanian coast in winter, be sure to visit the Palanga and Šventoji evergreen Christmas trees. Shots of these will make a great adornment to your Instagram account.

This year, the Palanga Christmas tree can be found beside the Kurhaus. It is extremely beautiful, decorated with a net of neon lights woven into a delicate cloak. Various seaside and ethnographic symbols can be found in the decorations. It’s a truly photogenic Christmas tree, so you will be sure to get good views of it which you can share on social media.

You can also visit the tree on the pedestrianised square in Šventoji. This year, it symbolises light, goodness and peace, everything that is associated with a warm and pleasant holiday. With its heart shapes, snowflakes, coloured baubles, and lots of lights, a photograph of this Christmas tree will definitely get you lots of likes on your Instagram account.

Tiškevičius Avenue

After visiting and taking pictures of the Christmas tree at Palanga, don’t forget to take a stroll along Tiškevičius Avenue. It has to be said that this part of the resort town is romantic in all seasons. However, during the holiday season, with the ground covered in a layer of powdery snow and the trees decorated with lights, Tiškevičius Avenue looks like a scene out of a Christmas movie.

We’ll put together the perfect Instagram shot for you with Tiškevičius Avenue in the background: you holding a cup of hot chocolate and wrapped in a knitted scarf, and the Palanga Christmas tree behind you. Isn’t that a great Christmas photograph?

Palanga pier and the beach

Although most people are attracted to the Lithuanian coast in the warm season, it’s just as attractive in winter. Of course, you have to dress up properly: the wind by the sea can be really penetrating. But the view of the beach in winter is enchanting, with a palette of cold colours, raging waves, the sand lightly covered by a layer of snow … and the pier at Palanga seeming to disappear in the fog. By the way, we can suggest an interesting angle for a winter photograph: why not photograph Palanga pier from below? When it gets cold and the snow falls, the girders of the pier are often called ‘elephant’s legs’. Why? Just go there and have a look, and you’ll understand.

The harbour mole at Šventoji

Palanga pier attracts people in all seasons, but in Šventoji there are much fewer tourists during the winter. So if you go to Šventoji habour mole, you can be sure to get some shots in which there is not a living soul. If there isn’t a seagull perching quietly somewhere in the distance, that is.

The beaches at Šventoji are a true oasis of calm in winter. With the pastel colours, the rather mystical-looking mole, and you dressed in your warmest clothes, it’s not at all difficult to get a peaceful and wintry shot here worthy of putting on Instagram.

Birute Park

You will probably agree that Palanga Botanic Garden (which is also called Birutė Park) is one of the most beautiful parks in Lithuania. It would be a mistake not to visit it while you are in Palanga. The flower beds, the well-kept lawns and the shady trees make you feel great here in the summer. But in winter, when everything is under snow, Birutė Park resembles a picture on a Christmas card.

With the heavy snow sticking to the branches of the trees, with the clean air, the elegant buildings in the park, the ice on the ponds, and the birds gathering around feeders, it really is worth taking a winter stroll in Birutė Park. We’re sure you’ll find plenty of exclusive views here with which you can decorate your festive Instagram account.
