The Samogitian Art Museum has been operating in the Mykolas Oginskis Palace since 1994. Here visitors can find collections and exhibits that reflect the cultural and historical diversity of the Samogitian region and preserves the traditions of the Mykolas Oginskis manor. Expositions offer an introduction to the 20th-21st centuries artworks donated to the museum by Samogitian artists living in Lithuania and abroad.

The buildings of the museum, built in late 19th century, are a former ensemble of the manor of Duke Mykolas Mikalojus Severinas Markas Oginskis (1849–1902). In 1879–1902 an orchestra school founded by M. Oginskis operated in the museum. And in 1889–1893 the well-known Lithuanian artist and composer Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis (1875–1911) studied here.

Currently, the manor ensemble consists of ten 19th century buildings. They are surrounded by one of the largest (58.3 ha) and most beautiful parks in Lithuania.
