Yestarday was the Universal Day of Culture but with cultural institutions across Europe currently on lockdown and so many in the cultural sector uncertain of what the future holds, it’s taking on a different meaning this year.

Still, we are all patiently waiting and hopeful that our cultural institutions will open their doors again in the near future. This hope is being mirrored this evening by one of our cultural symbols, the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, which is joining theatres across the continent by illuminating its building in green.

It’s a gesture of support and gratitude for everyone on the frontlines of the fight against the pandemic and a reminder that we will overcome this situation together.
