At 5 PM on December 17, Anykščiai invites you to an incredible opening for its Christmas residence! This year we will surprise town residents and guests with an exceptional idea – a Christmas tree made out of water. The shining fir tree by Šventoji River, the din of the Christmas town, bright entertainment and education events, art video projections – it’s an unforgettable Christmas celebration for you! Alongside the impressive Christmas tree, one of the most prominent Lithuanian performers Justė Arlauskaitė-Jazzu will gift you with a festive mood. The opening festivities will also be there for the very smallest ones – the children’s theatre promises playful dances and songs.
Follow the events of Christmas Residence 2019
For several years in a row, the Christmas residence was established in Rokiškis. This year the Rokiškis’ Business Club is passing over the Christmas residence to Anykščiai. The Rokiškis’ Business Club together with the Anykščiai Leaders Club are members of the Aukštaitija Business Union. This cooperation is an excellent example of how local municipalities and businesses can share good experience.
Christmas fair and creative workshops
From 10 AM on December 7, the Anykščiai Art Incubator, which always attracts with its innovative ideas, will surprise this time with a local artists’ fair and original workshops. You will be able to not only find cute handmade gifts for your close ones but will also have an opportunity to dive into creative processes together with artists. Fancy a graphics or animation workshop? Or maybe the creation of Christmas tattoos? All these extraordinary and festive adventures will remind you that Christmas is right around the corner!
Fireplace Tales
The Liudvika and Stanislovas Didžiuliai Library invites you to experience the joy of reading in its education programme Fireplace Tales. Christmas is a time of surprises! It is namely here that both big and small will find a surprise – the storyteller, who tells magical, funny, liar and animal tales, even scary stories. You will be surprised how many unexpected discoveries, secrets and miracles hide in the world of fairy tales…

Advent conversations with Vytautas V. Landsbergis
Throughout the Christmas residence period, the Baranauskas and Vienuolis-Žukauskas Memorial Museum will create a magical atmosphere and will invite to cosy meetings with incredible people. At 4 PM on December 14, writer and bard V. Landsbergis will share his thoughts about the Advent, songs and film viewing.
The museums have other holiday meetings prepared: evening conversations with astronomer Šmaukštaras, weaving Advent wreaths, writer B. Buivydaitė‘s museum will feature aromatherapy and Christmas wafer baking. The Horse Museum will invite to an educational mid-winter wander around the museum’s premises.
Christmas rolls in by rail – fun meetings at the Siaurukas Museum
From December 7 to January 5, every day from 10 AM to 4 PM, the Siaurukas Museum (the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum) will invite to warm yourselves up with a cup of hot tea, a photo session with luggage at the Siaurukas Christmas tree and to discover gifts in the “well of joy.” Catch the festive mood at Siaurukas!
Craft and send a Christmas postcard!
Who of us doesn’t dream of receiving an actual real letter? And by Christmas mail at that? The Angel Museum invites to make your close ones happy with a unique hand-made postcard with the museum’s original stamp. Everyone – big and small – will be able to dare, try and create something magical.
Day of Light at the Treetop Walking Path
On December 14, Anykščiai Pinewood will light up with bright lights, inviting everyone to gather and celebrate the Day of Light together. Craft a lantern and come to the Treetop Walking Path to cosily and festively light Anykščiai Pinewood!
Where does Christmas hide in Anykščiai?
We‘ll tell you a secret – at Santa Claus’ residence! Already on December 8, Santa Claus is coming to Anykščiai, bringing not only a sack of surprises but also magical stories and the distant land of snow. Children will not only be able to meet Santa Claus but also put his magical beard to the test and even silently whisper their most secret dreams.
For even more fun, the Christmas town will invite for a walk to enjoy the sights, warm up with a cup of hot drink, feast a little and obtain cosy gifts for your close ones. Next to the Christmas residence, a festively decorated Christmas train will await you, coursing around the Christmas tree Park.
