The cold season approaches, but the summer resorts still appeal to travellers with a well-kept relaxed vacation environment and fewer people around. Autumn is a great time to be in a resort town because of the fresh seaside air and a wide selection of leisure centres. Below you will find some suggestions for wellness and health retreats, making Palanga worthy of consideration for a short autumn vacation.

Nature of Palanga — The Health Source

Being in nature is one of the best ways to nurture health. Perhaps the most beautiful place in Palanga that guarantees a quiet rest while admiring trees, flower gardens, and ponds at any time of the season is Birutės Park. It’s one of the best-preserved and maintained parks in Lithuania. The park was founded at the end of the 19th-century and was designed by famous French landscape architect Edouard François André. While walking in the garden, you can choose to climb Birutės Hill, where you will find a hundred-year-old pine forest and the beautiful scenery of the sea.

Autumn in Palanga

The empty beaches in autumn attract people who look for peace and tranquillity. Thanks to the maritime climate, the sea’s iodinated air help visitors relax and unwind. Because of the natural surroundings, the air contains more oxygen, so visitors often sleep better and feel fresher when they choose a holiday in Palanga.

Pine forests that grow right next to the beaches in Palanga can also improve your health. Breathing is lighter in the woods because of the released substance phytoncide. Plus, the tree smell has a positive effect on health and calms the mind. Thus every walk in the coniferous forest is very nurturing to your body.

Swimming pool in Palanga for fun water activities all year round

“Palanga Swimming Pool” is a place to escape the cold and dive into pleasant water. The pool centre has eight 25 metre long tracks, space for children to learn swimming, and a wellness centre with saunas, hot tubs, and recreational pools. There is also a newly opened wellness treatment room offering massages and health procedures.

Palanga has the deepest mineral water borehole in the country

At the “Gradiali” Sanatorium, mineral spring water is extracted from a local 570-meter-deep borehole. According to geologists, this is the deepest mineral water borehole used for health services in Lithuania.

For external body care, the mineral water is used for rehabilitation procedures, inhalations, baths, underwater massages, and swimming pools. The mineral water in baths and pools heals the skin and hypodermis, treats various organ diseases. Drinking water treats a variety of conditions, including gastrointestinal, kidney, and endocrine diseases.

Next to the sanatorium, there is the first barefoot trail in Palanga composed of natural materials in an open area near pine forests. When walking on the track, the feet get a massage that relaxes the body, improves blood circulation.

Unique dry underwater massage bed

One of the newest treatments offered at “Amber Palace” SPA is a dry underwater massage. While lying on the massage bed, you feel water currents, which detox the body and touch the deepest tissue layers. It’s similar to lying on the water, but the water is covered with a waterproof material, so you don’t get wet during the procedure. This type of massage relaxes muscles, reduces joint pain, improves blood circulation, and speeds up metabolism.

Cedar therapy, mineral water pools and exclusive spa treatments

The cedar therapy and relaxation room in the “Palanga Life Balance” SPA centre take into a deep state of sleep and peace. In the room, cedar boards are carved to create the impression of a mother’s womb. The main highlight is the water beds that provide a feeling of deep relaxation.

The mineral water pools in Palanga SPA centre are perfect after a hot sauna, and the 20 meters long paths are great for swimming. The nearby mineral water hot tubs have healing properties — water jets massage the body, and eliminate tension.

The centre offers exclusive balneo and hydrotherapy treatments for health and disease prevention. Mineral and carbonated baths regulate vascular tone, strengthen the body, speed up metabolism, and improve skin condition. Mud applications reduce inflammation, pain and treat the skin. Hydromassages also improve overall body health and reduce stress. A unique type of wellness treatment — mineral water inhalations. The treatments improve the condition of the respiratory tract, eliminate toxins, and restore the breath rhythm. Inhalations are also used prophylactically as common cold prevention.
