The illustrated map invites you to experience a positive culture shock and visit the numerous museums, galleries, concert halls and other cultural hubs in our city.
Kaunas, the future European Capital of Culture, is a place full of unexpected cultural encounters. A brand new route in the kaunastic illustrated map series invites you to experience a positive culture shock and visit the numerous museums, galleries, concert halls and other cultural hubs in our city.
“Culture shock” is precisely what Inga Navickaitė, the illustrator of the map, said when she saw the list of objects to draw in the map! It’s fair to say that a weekend in Kaunas is not enough to visit all of the places we’ve included. Moreover, the places keep changing their appearance, repertoire and exhibitions, so the route is actually endless. Make sure to revisit us in 2022 for the ultimate European Capital of Culture experience.
The stops of the map are grouped in thematic categories. The first one is Cultural hubs, which are the busiest spots in town that offer too much to be individually categorised. Then, of course, galleries, museums, libraries, concert halls, theatres, cinemas, bars and clubs and places you can get some kaunastic souvenirs at.
“Culture Shock” was published together with Kaunas Artists’ House, which is one of our favourite venues in the city. They host more than 200 events a year! Of course, you can grab a free copy of it (and other Kaunastic maps) there, as well as the Kaunas IN Tourism information centre located at the Town Hall (Rotušės a. 15).
You can also download the PDF version of the map and explore it before coming to Kaunas. Here’s the digital shelf of our Kaunastic maps!
