Do you know that feeling when you and your family or friends can’t agree on where to go and eat? One person wants a traditional Lithuanian dish. Another dreams of a delicate French snack. And the rest are eager for exotic flavours. At times like this, it seems it would have been easier not to go out together at all, and to eat separately … However, the One for All restaurant in the heart of Užupis, in front of the Angel, will solve all your disagreements. Its menu features dishes from all different corners of the world, from classics of Lithuanian cuisine, to Ukrainian, Spanish, French, and even Thai and Cuban dishes. To each according to his wishes!

You’re probably asking how a restaurant can perfect dishes from so many different countries. It turns out that when you try, you really can. We have found many articles on the Internet where food critics praise the pleasant atmosphere and the food served at One for All. So we want to tell you more about this unique place.

The concept of the restaurant was inspired by travel

‘I used to work as a waiter in hotels and restaurants,’ says Tomas Prieskienis, the manager of the One for All restaurant. ‘I’ve always liked working in this sector, so it’s only natural that I had the idea of opening my own restaurant one day. And, almost nine years ago, the chance arose.’

He learned from a friend about some vacant premises in a unique place in Vilnius at the heart of Užupis who advised him not to delay. After all, an opportunity like this does not come up every day. So Tomas’ dream rather unexpectedly began to come true. All that was left was to come up with the main idea: how to create a menu to appeal to local people and tourists?

‘The concept was inspired by travel,’ smiles the founder of the restaurant. He had already travelled a lot and tasted the traditional cuisines of many different countries. Of course, he had his favourites. That’s how the idea was born to offer guests the best and the most delicious tastes of world cuisine.

‘I won’t hide it,’ Tomas says. ‘There were challenges. We improved some dishes and their recipes that we already had. Some had to be dropped and replaced by new ones. Of course, we continued to travel, taste, and look for new flavours. We even had to call chefs and ask them for details. Of course, not everyone wanted to divulge their secrets. However, there were some recipes that we managed to get.’

According to him, this is what makes One for All unique. All the dishes have been chosen carefully and with love. And not only chosen with love, but also produced. So every guest will find something he likes.

What are the most popular dishes?

When you peruse the restaurant’s menu, you will find flags next to every dish. ‘The menu looks nicer, and it’s easier for people to understand what country’s taste to expect,’ says the founder. When asked which dishes are the most popular and the favourites with guests, he does not hesitate to mention that both locals and foreign tourists are particularly fond of Lithuanian flavours: from šaltibarščiai with potatoes, to potato pancakes, cepelinai, or stew with lamb and mushroom sauce.

‘Guests praise and our home-baked Lithuanian black bread. We serve it with salads and soup. And we also offer a snack made from homemade bread that is loved by everyone: fried bread with cheese sauce. It’s very simple, but very popular,’ says Tomas.

He recommends trying a Lithuanian dessert, tinginys. It’s new this season, having returned to the menu after an absence of a few years. And if you are a fan of ice cream, try the homemade ice cream made by the One for All restaurant. ‘Some foreign guests recently tasted the hazelnut-flavour ice cream and said they had never tasted anything so good,’ says the owner of the restaurant.

If you ask what is worth trying from the cuisines of the world, guests are very fond of the Ukrainian Kiev cutlet, which inevitably is compared to the famous Neringa Kiev cutlet. Of course, tastes vary, but we’ve heard rumours that One for All leads the way in this particular instance. Also, the Cuban ribs with red beans and corn on the cob, French breast of roast duck, Argentinian roast beef, and other dishes are highly praised. By the way, the daily lunch menu (on weekdays from 11am to 3pm) is also worth a special mention. It’s different every day, but you’ll always find soup, salad and a main course, at a really affordable price.

A great place for a personal or a company celebration

Are you looking for a pleasant place for a personal or a company celebration? If so, One for All is indeed a great choice. First of all, thanks to the already-discussed menu, every guest at the celebration will find a dish that is close to their heart. The second is its very convenient location. After all, as we have already mentioned, the restaurant is located right at the heart of Užupis.

Finally, One for All has a really pleasant atmosphere. The modern furnishings go well with the old brick walls and the wooden ceilings. And the various works of art and photographs, reflecting a fusion of different cultures, give it extra charm.

The restaurant has two rooms: a small one, which is ideal for up to 25 guests, and a larger one for up to 45 guests. One for All also has an outdoor terrace that can accommodate up to 30 people. ‘Taking into account your wishes and your needs, we can organise a celebration over the entire space of the restaurant,’ say the One for All team. So if you are thinking about where to celebrate a birthday, wedding, christening, company party or other celebration, this restaurant in the heart of Užupis is a great choice.
